Office Introduction

Vector Architects pursues the fundamental simplicity and logical clarity through the
everyday thinking and working process. We initiate the design process with "Identifying
the question", based on the consideration of the program and the clients need, and the
understanding of social, cultural, historic, climate, and urban context of each project.
We believe in simple solution as a result of a comprehensive design study progress.
We address the "Being Built" as the ultimate standard to reflect the design value of
architecture. We enjoy the work of coordination and interaction with varies interest
groups, such as client, government, consultant, contractor, supplier and etc.

直向建筑（Vector Architects）由合伙人于2008 年在北京成立，是一家专业性建筑师
事务所。合伙人均于国内外接受完整的建筑专业教育，并先后在美国著名建筑师事务所
工作多年。以坦诚直率的态度来面对建筑设计，并在工作过程中坚持清晰的设计方向是
公司秉持的原则和追求的目标。

"建筑设计"需要直率地面对各种"问题"，并以专业观点提出完整的方案，若仅仅只是设
计师的主观表达或某种风格的追求，将无法真实地面对环境，并失去设计应有的社会价
值。每一次的设计过程都是一次从发现问题到解决问题的过程。发现问题是我们基于对
社会、文化、历史、地理、城市、业主需求、功能等诸多客观因素的认识和理解的基础
上，找到切入点并提出设计概念的过程；解决问题是通过逻辑的工作方法，在设计概念
的指引下横向比较和纵向深化，逐步落实设计概念的过程。简单的结果不等同于简约的
风格追求，它意味着更有节制却更高效率的解决问题。而追求设计简单结果的过程却往
往更为复杂，因为我们需要不断地通过非常大量的比较分析来试图校正设计思路的正确
性和清晰性。

直向建筑关注从项目策划、概念设计到工程竣工过程中的每一个步骤，坚持建筑的完成
度是体现设计价值的终极标准。建筑师的价值和能量不只体现在理念生成和空间形式的
塑造，同时也渗透到设计过程中从聆听业主的意见到提出专业的意见，及与各专业团队
的合作和协调、控制等各个层面。

Vector Architects currently has around 25-30 staffs. The firm’s structure consists of partners,
associates, project architects, architects, and interns. For each project, despite its scale and type,
Vector Architects insists on the participation of its partners in every step of the design process
besides establishing focused working team. This close corporative effort spans from the initial
conceptualization of design to the finalization of joint detail, and the supervision of construction site.
To Vector Architects, the value of an architectural design is reflected in the standard of the realized
structure.

直向建筑事务所目前人员规模为25-30人左右.内部人员架构由合伙人,理事,项目建筑师,建筑师和实习生
等几部分组成.针对事务所进行中的每一个项目,无论其规模和类型,除了设立专门的工作小组之外,直向
建筑坚持由合伙人亲自介入并参与到项目进程中的各个环节,包括从一开始的理念生成,一直到后期的构
造节点的控制,以及工地现场的视察等等.对于直向建筑来说,建筑设计的价值需要依靠有标准的建成状态
得以最终体现.

category in “the 2nd China Architecture Media Awards”
2011.01 Vector Architects is nominated for the “Young Architect Award” category.
2011.07 Vector Architects was invited to speak in the lecture, “HandMade Architecture”, of the

“CHINA New Design SERIES” lecture series hosted by UCCA
2011.09 Vector Architects will take part in the Chengdu Biennale
2011.10 Vector Architects will attend the Design Attack 2011 festival in Poland

直向建筑成立以来，其建成作品受到了业界广泛的关注，并多次被国际高端建筑媒体收
录发表，其中包括日本《A+U》,意大利《Domus》和《Area》, 韩国《C3》, 荷兰《Mark》
等等。

2010.09 “瞬间城市”合肥东大街售楼处项目荣获“2010 CA’ASI 中国新锐建筑创
作展”大赛一等奖，并参加2010 威尼斯建筑艺术双年展，同时作品被双年展的中

                国馆收录。
2010.11 “天津西青区张家窝镇小学”项目获得“第二届中国建筑传媒奖”的“最佳建筑奖入围奖”。
2011.01   直向建筑获得“2010 年度中国风尚榜风尚建筑师”奖。
2011.07   直向建筑受邀参加尤仑斯举办的“中国新设计”系列讲座之《手工建筑》。
2011.09   直向建筑将参加2011年成都双年展。
2011.10   直向建筑将在波兰参加2011“设计碰撞艺术节”。
